So, you nailed the intro of 'Smell Like Teen Spirit', and now you're hooked. But your neighbours aren't clapping, they're calling the council instead. Welcome to the eternal struggle of every drummer in Brighton: where can I practice without getting kick out from my flat?
Finding a place where you can play peacefully can be tricky, but here is a guide to some of the best spots to practice drums in Brighton and Hove:

Brighton Electric Studios
Location: 43-45 Coombe Road, Brighton and Hove BN2 4AD
Opening Hours: Daily (Hours Vary)
Why it's Great: Brighton Electric is a legendary studio used by bands like The Cure and Architects. They offer high-quality soundproofed rehearsal spaces with full backline gear. This is usually my first recommendation for my students looking to practice drums in Brighton.
Tips: Before to book online, give them a quick call. They often have a special rate for solo practice before 6pm. No cymbals? No problem! You can hire extra gear from the front desk.
Small Pond Studios Small Pond Studios
Location: 27 Castle St, Brighton and Hove BN1 2HD
Opening Hours: Daily (Hours Vary)
Why it's Great: Small Pond is an independent music space with great facilities, and they cater to everything from band rehearsal to video shooting. If you're a drummer and looking for a space to practice, this studio is another great choice.
Tips: Unfortunately you can't book online at Small Pond, so I recommend give them a quick call. They often have special rate for solo practice during the day. If you don't have cymbals, you may be able to hire some from the front desk, but it's always better to ask first.
South Lanes Studios South Lanes Studios
Location: 15-17 Middle St, Brighton BN1 1AL
Opening Hours: Daily (Hours Vary)
Why it's Great: South Lanes Studios is a top-choice in Central Brighton, professional, friendly, well-equipped, and easy to access. Solo drummers often enjoy day-time discount, just ask when you booking.
Tips: Before booking online, I recommend giving them a quick call and ask about their membership and credit system, it can get you special rates for solo practice.
Pirate Studios Pirate Studios
Location: 10 St. Joseph's Cl, Hove BN3 7ES
Opening Hours: 24/7
Why it's Great: Pirate Studios have fully equipped rehearsal rooms come with drum kits, amps, and PA systems, so you just need to bring your pedal, sticks, snare and cymbals. This studio is self-service and open 24/7, so you can practice drums at 3am if you like.
Tips: You can book online through their website or app. Just create an account, choose your slot, and you'll receive an access code to get into the building. Since it's self-service check-in and there is no one at the desk, I recommend bringing your own cymbals.
Final Thoughts
Brighton and Hove is a brilliant city for drummers, full of creativity and opportunity. Whether you're getting started or gigging regularly, having a reliable space to practice will level up your drumming.
If you're looking for drum lessons or need a local drummer for live gigs and recording sessions, feel free to reach out, I'd love to help you on your journey.
